Time & Location

About the Event
Yorkshire Peat Partnership (YPP) is working across North Yorkshire to protect and restore the region’s precious peatlands. Peatlands cover only 3 percent of the earth’s surface yet hold twice as much carbon as all the world’s forests combined. Functioning peatlands also reduce flood risk and support water security making them vital allies in the face of a changing climate.
Restoring them also supports a host of rare and specially adapted wildlife, including dragonflies and damselflies. Because peatlands are so wet, when they function well, they are home to pool-dependant dragonfly and damselfly species. Our Dragons in the Dales project started a process of involving volunteers in helping us to monitor dragonfly activity on our restoration sites, and we’re keen to continue this work with new groups and at new sites.
Wildish members are invited to join YPP for a day of training in Odonata (the collective name for dragonfly and damselfly species)…
