About the Event

🌿 A Wildish Walk into the Industrial Past of Nidderdale

📅 Sunday 24th August

11:00-15:00

MEETING POINT: Wildish, Pateley Bridge

DESCRIPTION: Join us as Sue, who is an amazing geologist, takes us on an exploratory walk of Nidderdale's industrial past.

We’ll start by heading along the river, then make our way through Mosscarr Bottom to join the Nidderdale Way. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Prosperous and Providence mine site by Ashfold Side Beck for a picnic lunch and a look at the ruins. You’ll see the ore hearths, chimney, and positions of the engines used to drain the mines, along with spoil heaps from the search for lead and barium ores. The contrast between the industrial landscape and the lush farmland is remarkable.
